Election Day 2020

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2020. The election will be the most important one of our lifetimes. And, because of the pandemic, it will be like no other. The Board of Elections mailed ballots to every registered voter in the District. You can also vote in person. The District of Columbia offers early voting. Remember, one way to pursue fundamental change is by exercising your right to vote.

Please visit the Board of Elections website to check your voter registration status.

Registration deadlines:
Online: Oct. 13
By mail: Received by Oct. 13
In person: Nov. 3
Absentee ballot deadlines:
Request: Oct. 27
Return by mail: Postmarked by Nov. 3
Return in person: Nov. 3 by 8:00 p.m.
Early voting:
Oct. 27 – Nov. 2, but dates and hours may vary based on where you live


Use the DC Action for Children 2020 Voter Guide to learn where local candidates stand on issues facing children, youth, and families. All candidates running for the at-large and ward 2 council seats, as well as the at-large State Board of Education seat were sent voter education questionnaires.
